Education & Early Work

He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts (AVU) in Prague, where he developed a powerful visual language under the guidance of leading Czech artists. From the beginning of his career, he has focused on naturally bridging the traditional medium of painting with elements of contemporary digital culture and post-digital aesthetics.

Original Visual Concepts

His work is built on precise work with color, layering, and the specific technique of airbrushing. Černý's visual identity balances abstraction and representational imagery, often exploring the boundaries between analog and digital perceptions of reality.

Exhibitions & Gallery Projects

He has presented his work in dozens of solo and group exhibitions in prestigious institutions. Key projects include:

  • Schrödinger's Heel – Václav Špála Gallery, Prague
  • The Waking Dragon – National Gallery in Prague (Kinský Palace)
  • Novel Cuts (Románové řezy) – Becher’s Villa Interactive Gallery, Karlovy Vary (2025/2026)
  • The Color of Time – Portheimka Gallery, Prague
  • Leopard Roses – Musoleum (David Černý), Prague

Collaborations & Installations

He regularly collaborates with leading Czech galleries and cultural centers. His interventions and installations have been featured in spaces such as DOX Prague, Museum Montanelli, and within residency exhibitions at the Pragovka Art District, where he also maintains his studio.

Multimedia Reach

Beyond classical painting, he also engages in visual experiments and video art. His projects, such as [spíč] (speech) at NoD Roxy or The Ride (Jízda) at the Gallery of Critics, reflect the dynamics of modern communication and the influence of the internet on our perception of images.

Studio & Current Practice

Based in Prague, he is a long-term resident of the Pragovka Art District. His works are represented in numerous private and institutional contemporary art collections both in the Czech Republic and abroad.
